biography
Mónica Alonso was born in A Fonsagrada, Lugo, España, in 1970. She lives and works in Lugo (ES).
She has been working with Galleria Tiziana Di Caro since 2008, where she did two solo exhibitions, Calor in 2008 and Angustia Blanca in 2011.
Since 2012 Alonso's practice is strongly connected with "psyco – spatial" therapy, consisting in locating psychological and emotional reactions beyond the artistic and aesthetic trait, and she's been using a specific method consisting of asking question through specific written questionnaires, which become artworks themselves. So Alonso is now interested in a theoretical aspect more than in practice. Travelling around the world she has always had the chance to interview people of different origins and cultures.
Her work has been exhibited at: Museo Provincial de Lugo, Spain (2011); Museo Comarcal da Fonsagrada, Spain (2011) and it is in many museums and collections such as the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporanea, Spain, Fundacion La Caixa, Spain, Fundacion Caixa Galicia, Spain, Caja Madrid, Spain, Museo Provincial de Lugo, Spain, Museo Comarcal da Fonsagrada, Lugo, Spain and many Private Collections
