biography

Giovanni Giaretta was born in 1983 in Padova (IT). He currently lives and works in Amsterdam (NL).

After graduating in Design and Production of Visual Arts at the University IUAV of Venice, he took part in a number of residency programs including: Dena Foundation for Contemporary Art in Paris in 2010; and most recently De Ateliers in Amsterdam, and at Deltaworkers in New Orleans (USA).
His practice involves video, installation, and photography.
Giovanni Giaretta narrates the ordinary in an unexpected way, telling of a world made of minor gestures and situations that offer the revelation of an unexpected reality, another dimension. The artist demonstrates his interest in an anthropology of everyday life, at times pursuing hypothetical scientific principles to make a more filmic perception of the real become clearly visible.

Giovanni Giaretta's exhibition at Galleria Tiziana Di Caro

In 2017 Giovanni Giaretta was part of the exhibition An entertainment in conversation and verse which was curated by Maria Adele Del Vecchio and it was his first exhibition at Galleria Tiziana Di Caro. His first solo show took place in 2018 and it was entitled Variations on a Nightshift
