Maria Calderara’s FW 2026/27 collection, #WWWWOMANWORDWRITINGFW26/27, is inspired by the poetics of Tomaso Binga (Bianca Pucciarelli Menna, born in Salerno in 1931), an artist who since the 1960s has developed a practice of visual poetry and desemanticized writing with a strong political dimension, denouncing the exclusion of women from the art system. Calderara engages with Binga’s work not to illustrate it, but to adopt its method: subtraction of meaning, rebellion against dogmas, and the centrality of the body as a narrative tool.

In the collection, Binga’s words and writing are reinterpreted on the garments through white felt hatching, while excerpts from her epistolary correspondence become engraved jewelry, blending traditional femininity with conceptual rigor. The project pays homage to the artist’s history, also through the repetition of the signature “Bi” on fabrics and references to her iconic Carta da parato (1976–1977).

The exhibition, produced in collaboration with the Archivio Tomaso Binga, the Galleria Tiziana Di Caro, and Frittelli Arte Contemporanea Gallery, presents key works by the artist such as Mare (1974), Scrittura Arrampicata (1976), and recent series like Lacrime di Sirena (2017–2020), alongside foundational works such as Vorrei essere un vigile urbano (1995) and Alfabetiere murale (1976). These pieces create a dialogue with Calderara’s fashion, opening a space where art and fashion intersect and contaminate each other.

The collection will be presented on February 27, 2026, at SPAZIO maria calderara in Milan, with public access until March 13.
