Starting from a speculative reading of *A Lecture on Serpent Ritual*, a text based on the lecture given by Aby Warburg in 1923 at the Kreuzlingen hospital (then, intriguingly titled "Images from the Region of the Pueblo Indians of North America"), this edition of the BF24 Photography Biennale aims to explore a multimodal and plural approach to concepts such as metamorphosis, transmutation, magic, ritual, skin, makeup, mimicry, surface, or folds, observing "images that shed their skin." The flow among images—both still and moving—generated through an anachronistic gesture, enhances a sinuous atlas where “nymphs” cross historical and contemporary times.

In dialogue with the 2022 edition, the Curatorial Program, titled *INFINITE SERPENT*, presents a series of interventions across different locations in Vila, featuring collective exhibitions and solo presentations by national and international artists, alongside an artist-in-residence program and an editorial project at Fábrica das Palavras with Sr. Teste publishing house. This collaboration will produce a publication that includes the first Portuguese translation of Warburg’s text, originally published in 1938, along with a “new iconography of the serpent” based on an analysis of the entire Library archive.

By creating zones of contact and dialogue and examining the relationships between photography and video art, literature, performance, cinema, and drawing, the exhibitions and actions are conceived as interwoven cosmologies of artistic universes that operate within the open field of photography.
